Frampton 10K – 12th July 2010
Congratulations to all those who took part in this years Frampton 10K race organised by Stroud and District Athletic Club. The weather was kind to all participants, staying overcast and cool, which in turn led to some great new personal best.
It was great to see Danny Livingstone running comfortable to the finish line, having started at the back of the field, “I was too relaxed and the strating gun wnet off and I realised that I was at the back”, said Danny, “I spent the next few miles forcing my way through the 400 plus strong field of runners, but at the end of the time I was pleased with a sub 50 min 10K and have learnt an awful lot from this”.

Next in was Trudy Chudleigh, after a a tough weekend in June dressed as a smurf for the Cirecester midnight walk and then without sleep completed a 10 mile leg of the Cotswold Way Relay the next day, which would exhaust almost everyone, led to a great Frampton 10K result. ”The 10 day rest I have taken has done me the world of good”, says Trudy, aka Papa Smurf, “and then tonight Simon told me to forget about the watch and treat the race like a training run. I intended to, but felt so relaxed and ended up racing it and getting a PB, sorry Simon!, or was that your reverse psychology plan??”
Lucy King of Nailsworth was next over the finish line, looking comfortable in a time of 51:28mins, “I am pleased with the fact that I ran, not feeling great and certainly tired from other races recently, but the way I ran was good and I enjoyed it all, and will be back next year. Now I am focused on our club race, the Sizzling Six Race at the Halfway House, near box next Thursday”, explained Lucy.
Mal Walker and Therese Bartlett, below 1st and 2nd left photo, followed closely, in 53:08 and 53:16 respectively, ” I wasn’t sure how I was going to run, having been away on holiday and not using my running shoes either, but was surprised to get a personal best. Mal helped me lots, but was too strong near the end, but chuffed to bits with my time”, says Therese. Mal Walker ran very well and again proved that at nearly 70 anything is possible, such a great inspiration to everyone.
Kyla Noble featured above 3rd from left ran a 57:08 minute 10K and must have enjoyed the experience to look so good at the finish line. Mary Holba, below on the left, was close behind in a time of 57:39mins. Dinah Benneworth, above far right, as usual saying she wasn’t going to try to hard, did a great time of 58:08mins. Lucy Trowse, below 2nd left, also previously a smurf, but new to road races, ran a 61:05min 10K, “I loved it!, said Lucy after just a few minutes recovery.
Well now the unexpected happened, just because 2 people have the same surname doesn’t mean it should become personal, but Steve and Gavin Townsend decided that this time it was. Apparently Steve made the move with just 30 metres to go, but Gavin copied him stride for stride to the finish line, as can be see by the photo at the top of the page. The finishing stewards went to a photo finish for the results and came to the conclusion that there was Townsends Dead Heat!.
By this time Nailsworth runner Jeanette Halliday, above 3rd from the left, had completed her 10k run in 65:0 and Michelle Allen in 66:09.
“Actually it wasn’t that bad afterall, and I did really enjoy”, commented Fiona Hail after she had completed the race in a new personal best time of 67:58mins . In fact she finished so fast that the photo taken of her was blurred, as can be seen left!
Finally Cheryll, who is unable to run due to injury, finished the 10K having walked most of the race, but put in a show finishing straight, as can been seen above far left, to record yet another great achievement.
