Standish Woodland Chase 15th Aug 2010

Congratulations to Martin Low and Jennie Marshall, who embarked on the 10 mile multi-terrain course from Standish to Haresfield organised by Stroud and District Athletics Club

The conditions were muddy in places, but surprisingly also quite humid, but that did not deter the Cotswold Allrunners in their own backyard.  The course leaves the outskirts of Stonehouse up Standish Lane for about half a mile, then goes offroad and up past Ash Lane and into Standish Woods.  The uphill running eventually ceases at Cricklegate Car park at Haresfield Beacon.  2 loops of 3.3miles around the woods before a long decent to the finish

Martin having recently returned from Australia is starting to find his running and fitness again and finished 43rd in 1hr13mins 06secs, and is getting ready for the Bristol Half Marathon in 3  weeks time.

Jennie Marshall just minutes before the start said, “I’m trying not show I’m nervous”, but judging by the finishing photo the nerves had evolved into enjoyment, fatique and a little pain to compliment a brilliant run.  Jennie finished in a time of 1hr26mins25secs in 137th position.
