Minchinhampton Rugby and Cotswold Allrunners member, Chris Brookman is running the London Marathon 2010 for the Multiple Sclerosis Resource Centre.
Chris started running around 3 years ago and had entered the London Marathon Ballot twice but was unsuccessful in gaining a place. He then gave up running for a few years and until recently its something that he hadn’t really thought much about.
Then after seeing an advert in the in the Stroud News and Journal for the Stroud Half marathon he decided to join the Higgys Heroes team.
“My cousin Kerry suffers from Multiple Sclerosis and it was because of her I got back into running.
So I trained for the Stroud half marathon, collected a good amount of sponsorship from friends and family and ran a respectful 1hr36min on the day”, explains Chris.
Then recently Chris received an email from the MSRC offering him a ‘Gold Bond’ place for the 2010 London Marathon and he immediately made contact with them to reserve his place.
“I have always watched the LM on the BBC and have always been amazed at how much fun people look like they’re having, it will be a great challenge and I can also raise money for a great cause at the same time. ”
Brookman is committed and states, “Now I have joined Cotswold Allrunners I know the support is there and the training can really start. I will push on through the cold conditions and get myself into the best shape possible, whilst avoiding any injuries. It will be the toughest thing I have ever done but I am just looking forward to the buzz on the day and finishing the event, but if pushed for a time I would like to get as close to 3.30 as possible.”
